Graphic Music Collaboration

July 15, 2022

Starlight artists teamed up with Wooden Cities to create original graphic scores, blending visual art with sound. This experimental collaboration, supported by NYSCA, culminated in a live performance at Starlight Studio.

Magnified Observations: The Art of the Wild

2021

Starlight Artists collaborated with Lara Buckley at Hickory Urban Sanctuary, drawing inspiration from nature to create an immersive audiovisual experience. Featuring poetry, live music, and interactive art, the project culminated in a multisensory installation showcased at Starlight Gallery.

Magnified Observations: The Art of the Wild

Co-Artifact 2020

August 6-9, 2020

Starlight Studio’s annual Co-Artifact auction went virtual, bringing together 18 artists from Starlight and the Buffalo community to complete 11 collaborative artworks. Proceeds supported Starlight’s mission, marking its 15th anniversary with a celebration of creativity and connection.

Widening the Focus: Finding Dignity & Acceptance in Difference

2019

Starlight Studio partnered with Arts Partners for Learning to engage 2nd graders at BPS 95: Waterfront Elementary in creating a collaborative mural. This program fostered conversations on dignity, acceptance, and artistic expression, supported by Fund for the Arts and NYSCA.

2019

Designed by Sussan Giallombardo and youth from the Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers, this vibrant mural transformed a space in Buffalo’s Fruit Belt. Created by a team of local artists, it was supported by Starlight Studio and made possible by the BNMC SPARK Grant.

Imagining a Future Gift Shop: Starlight City Assemblies

June 20, 2019

Starlight Studio partnered with Dennis Maher of Assembly House 150 to explore architecture and design for a future gift shop. Through workshops, model-making, and site visits, Starlight artists helped shape a vision for a creative retail space supporting underrepresented artists.

Co-Artifact 2019

May 9, 2019

The 4th annual Co-Artifact silent auction brought together 16 Starlight artists and 15 community artists to create 30 collaborative works. Held at Eleven Twenty Projects, the event featured music, local fare, and artwork sales, with proceeds supporting Starlight’s health and wellness programming.

Hot Rock Hotel – A Play by Dana Graap

November 8-11 & 15-18, 2018

Unique Theatre Company and Starlight Studio present Hot Rock Hotel, a story of second chances and chasing dreams in Las Vegas. Written by Dana Graap and directed by Beth Geyer, this lively production ran at Alleyway Theatre, featuring a casino-themed audience experience.

April 19, 2018

Held at Eleven Twenty Projects, Co-Artifact 2018 featured 28 collaborative artworks from Starlight and community artists. The auction helped fund renovations to Starlight’s façade, reinforcing its role as a creative hub in Buffalo.

Of One Mind – A Documentary Collaboration

Of One Mind is a documentary featuring Starlight artists and community artists in conversation about art, creativity, and shared experiences. Produced with Squeaky Wheel and screened at Hallwalls, the film highlights artistic connections while teaching Starlight artists new media skills.

Woolly Mammoth Sculpture

2016

Starlight artist Chace Lobley, in collaboration with Jonathan Daley of Solid 716, created a life-sized woolly mammoth as part of CEPA Gallery’s West Side Lots Project. This striking public sculpture transformed a vacant Buffalo lot into a prehistoric vision, blending art, history, and community engagement.
