Transient Signal: Gardener Astalos , Shelia Bush, Torrein Harris

Please join us for Transient Signals, the next iteration of Starlight Studio and Art Gallery’s Side by Each series, in which artists from Starlight Studios are paired with artists from the community otherwise.  The exhibition pairs the drawing and print work of Gardner Astalos with the work of studio artists Sheila Bush & Torrein Harris. Gardner Astalos’ work focuses on seemingly unremarkable settings that are imbued with meaning and memory.  Whether printed or drawn, Astalos’ work is characterized by layers of rough-hewn sketches. Sheila Bush creates ceramic works, vessels, and prints that reimagine floral forms and other motifs in bold, layered colors.  Unshy about being decorative, Bush’s designs are carefully crafted and jubilant. Torrein Harris’ brash paintings focusing on singular subjects (a coffee maker, a TV, a fridge) share an exuberance with Bush’s ceramics and a sketchy aesthetic with Astalos’ drawing style.
