Sonya Lewis

Sonya’s work is a refreshing and rhythmic orchestration of line, shape and color. She enjoys working on collages of glue, cut paper, watercolor ribbon, and sales catalogs. Sonya says of these evocative pieces, “Usually I like to make a collage on a piece of paper, cut up pieces of paper. Then I glue them onto the paper. I like to cut out pictures of food, art pictures, and products from magazines, newspapers, and sale papers. I like to take tissue paper and cut up pieces and put them on a piece of paper or matte board.”  Recently, Sonya has been exploring fiber and weaving, reminiscent of her collages, with added found objects.  She uses colors to contrast and pop out the work. Sonya Lewis lives in Buffalo, NY.
