Since starting at Starlight Studio Shirley has maintained interest and inspiration in creating ever complicated bright colored geometric marker drawings. She was first inspired to create this way from looking at books of geometric abstraction. Adjectives that have been used to describe these works include: orderly, balanced, beautiful, very abstract and complex. “I never thought I’d get the chance to show and sell my work at places around the city. I had work hanging at the Albright-Knox! I was stunned!” And, “It was an honor to have the first one-person show at Starlight Studio”.
Shirley has been active facilitating art making in Starlight’s afterschool program since 2012. She has learned patience through this experience. Shirley describes this as a mutually pleasurable experience; one that at times, has inspired her art.
