At 35 years old, Sheila's participation in the Starlight Studio Art Program is her first in-depth involvement in the arts, she says. Her life is full and independent, working, traveling and keeping contact with friends. Artistically, she works with a willingness to try new things and embrace the discoveries within the process. Shelia's execution is exacting and careful, creating a polished finish. Landscapes and objects such as fish and fruit bowls adorn her paintings and ceramics; images that convey a plainspoken familiarity which offsets the often experimental use of materials.
